Referral Process
You’ve sent a compression garment referral, what’s next?

  • Step 01

Our team will input the patient information into our system, verify benefits, and schedule an appointment.

We will follow up with the patient by phone to confirm their appointment date and time, and to let them know we have begun the intake process.

  • Step 02

After the initial consultation where we assess and determine the required garments, we will fax a prescription to the doctor/referring facility requesting the necessary supporting documentation.

The turnaround time for receiving the completed prescription varies and can take 1-3 weeks depending on the facility. If the prescription is not received within one week, we will follow up weekly for a maximum of 3 weeks. On the third week, if we still have not received the prescription, we will contact the patient with a status update and request that they also follow up with their doctor/referring facility to help expedite the process.

  • Step 03

Upon receiving the signed prescription and supporting medical notes from the doctor/facility, we will submit a prior authorization request to your insurance company.

Most insurers require authorization before dispensing durable medical equipment, so a signed prescription from your doctor is needed to start this process. Even if your particular insurance does not always mandate prior authorization, our internal compliance protocol is to obtain authorization regardless.

The prior authorization approval can take up to 14 business days from the insurance company. We will closely monitor the status and notify you as soon as we receive approval.

  • Step 04

After receiving prior authorization approval from your insurance provider, we will contact you to review and confirm any out-of-pocket costs or patient responsibility amounts before the order is placed.

  • Step 05

After we place the order, it can take 7-14 business days for the manufacturers to process and ship the garments.

For patients needing delivery appointments, we will call to schedule once the items arrive at our office. Delivery appointments must be scheduled in advance, walk-ins are not accepted.

  • Step 06

Please feel free to call our office at any time if you would like a status update or have any questions during the process. We are happy to provide an update on where things stand and will assist you however we can. Our goal is to keep you informed and ensure you get the equipment you need in a timely manner.
